_ Vocal Tone & its Function / DMAF, digital mixed auditory feedback

  Vocal Tone provides information to the brain for use in guiding speech muscle movements, and also provides an early indication of the voice characteristics.
Vocal tone consists of a 'buzzing' sound that is generated by vibrations of the vocal folds in the larynx, inside the persons throat, and is transferred to the ears through the soft tissues, cartilage, and bones of the throat and skull.
Vocal tone is a natural, internal component of speech, and provides a "background" buzzing sound that is always present inside our bodies when we talk.

   'StutterFree' studer device picks up this 'buzzing' background sound with a small sensor that is built into the device. This 'buzzing' sound is then mixed with the persons 'real-time voice activity, processed by the device then transferred through small plastic tubing and into the earpiece the person is wearing.

  This early information to the brain--gives the brain more specific control over the speech muscle tension levels associated with speech. This process, combined with the speech therapy program in the---'StutterFree' booklet will, day by day, improve the coordination of speech muscles' activities, thereby substantially reducing stuttering.

   The more the person uses the 'StutterFree' tool , the more tension levels associated with stutttered speech along with other habitial factors associated with stuttered speech, will be reduced, until one day the 'StutterFree' speech therapy tool may not be needed.
